Making Pasta!

In our ongoing efforts to eat healthier, we made our second attempt at homemade pasta. Kim pulled a recipe off of the internet, ground the bread and pastry flour, and off we went.

I had two very good helpers working with me - our resident pasta rolling experts. It was like Play-Doh you can eat. We rolled out enough lasagna noodles for two big batches and an assortment of fettucini and angle hair pasta.

The other major experiment was making ravioli. I don't have any pictures, but I will leave it at "it looked like ravioli". Either the dough was too thick, or possibly we put in too much filling, but either way it really didn't work out. On the bright side, Kim created an outstanding cheese filling that we'll definitely use again.

We also made a jumbo batch of marinara sauce. I had to get out the beer pan to handle the job. It was easily enough for the two lasagnas, the ravioli, and a dinner or two of spaghetti down the road.

At some point we'll start posting our recipes - the ones that work.
